WCSAL Football Champions

T.J.'s football team played their rival North Whitfield in the championship game on Saturday. The Kodiaks went undefeated in the league after beating the Pioneers in a regular season finale 20-6. The Pioneers came out strong in the first quarter and a half leading the Kodiaks 12-0. After the Pioneers went up 12, the Kodiaks ran a kickoff all the way back to the Pioneer 20 yard line. The Kodiaks then scored on the ensuing possession to bring the game to 12-8 at the half. The second half was all Kodiaks as the defense came up big to hold the Pioneer offense to 0 points in the half. The Kodiaks scored a touchdown late in the 3rd quarter to make the game 14-12. The Pioneer offense had one last shot at a late score when the Kodiaks fumble the ball on the Pioneer 30 yd line with 1:11 left in the game. The Kodiaks were plagued with penalties on that drive, but the defense came up big with 2 sacks and a run kept in bounds running the clock down to 2.2. seconds. The Pioneers spiked the ball on the 1st down as the clock expired. The refs ruled that time should not have ran off and there should have been 1/2 a second to play. So the celebration stopped for a moment and the Pioneers had one last shot at the end zone. The pass was short and the Kodiaks celebrated their first Football Championship in the school's three year history.

T.J. and I were very excited that he was able to win this championship at his new school. It has truly been the place where he is supposed to be.

There's No Place Like New Hope

The semester is almost over and so far T.J. and I love his new home away from home. His football team went 4-0 in the WCSAL and is in the Championship Game on October 18. They play their rival North Whitfield. Wish them luck. On Monday, T.J. will start basketball and will be very busy with that and his Gifted Endorsement class.

As for me, I am halfway through my first semester as a Junior. It is flying by and I am completely stressed out everyday! I am making 5 A's and a B so far. I will be starting my ESOL middle school and high school placement in 2 weeks and am sad to leave Battlefield Primary. However, I will be in the Whitfield County school system and will be kind of close to T.J.'s school. I am extremely nervous about my finals and hope that I do well on all of them.

The School Year Has Started

The school year has started and it looks like I will be very busy for the next 2 years...ha! I like my classes so far and the professors seem great. I will only be going to classes 2 days a week (MW) and then will be doing Field Experience 2 days a week(Tues/Thurs). I will be at Battlefield Primary on those days interning in a Kindergarten class. I am very excited about the road ahead. I just hope I can pass my classes...I am not a good test taker. So wish me luck!

T.J. is loving his new school and his kids in his classes. He loves that the kids WANT to do work and learn. He is busy coaching football right now as well as taking a gifted endorsement class on Monday nights. We don't have time for anything!!

Ready for the new school year!

Well T.J. officially starts his school year today and we are both excited. The kids do not come until August 8th, but he is eagerly anticipating his new classes. We think that New Hope is where he needs to be and the community and the school system are all wonderful. As for me, I start classes on August 18th. I am very excited and cannot wait for the semester to begin. Wish us both luck on the upcoming school year!

Summer Is Flying By

Well the summer is flying by and it is almost time for school to start back. T.J.'s school system starts back on August 4th, but he has to go to orientation training on July 31-Aug 1. My college starts on August 18th, so I have a little longer than he does. We are so excited to be starting back though. We really love his new school and the kids and staff he will be working with. It is very nice to be somewhere that is commited to both academics and athletics. He has been having basketball practice this summer and started football conditioning this week. Needless to say, he has been very busy this summer, which is good because we thought he would go stir crazy when he didn't have a job lined up at the beginning of the summer.

Acceptance

I just found out this week that I have been accepted into the School of Education at Dalton State. I was registered for classes by the records administrator (which was nice, not having to do it myself). I will be taking 16 hours of classes each semester (except for Summer where I will have 6 hours), with classes being held 2 days a week. I will be placed in a school for 8 weeks each semester for 2 days a week as well. This will give me Fridays off, which I am extremely happy for. The only bad thing is that I can't work during my time in college. Other than that, I am excited yet nervous about my classes.

Summer Is Here...

I will finally be ending my Summer session classes tomorrow. I am so pumped. This is the first time I have had to take Summer session courses. When my grades are posted I will be accepted into the School of Education and will have 2 years left until I finish my Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education. I am excited about starting school ready to get it over with.

T.J Got a Job!

Well T.J. finally got his first teaching position at New Hope Middle School in Dalton, Georgia. We are very excited and are very impressed with the people and how T.J. was welcomed at the school the past couple of weeks. He will be teaching 7th grade Math and will be an Assistant Football Coach, Head Girl's Basketball Coach, and Assistant Track Coach. Thier colors are blue and gold and their mascot is the Kodiak Bear. I am sure we will be sporting tons of Kodiak gear when you see us out and about. We are going to be very busy this summer getting T.J. moved into his room and starting conditioning for basketball. So wish T.J. luck in his new job!
